What is NeoLife Magnesium Complex?
A magnesium supplement providing 300 mg of magnesium per two-tablet serving — 80% of the Nutrient Reference Value — drawn from three different magnesium compounds rather than one, and blended with powdered beet, kale, broccoli and radish. Sixty tablets to a bottle, and the tablets are vegan.1
The recommended intake is flexible: one to two tablets a day. At two a day a bottle lasts a month; at one a day, two months.
What is in each serving
From the UK nutrition information printed on the pack. These are the amounts in two tablets.
| Per 2 tablets | Amount | %NRV |
|---|---|---|
| Magnesium | 300 mg1 | 80% |
| Beetroot | 20 mg1 | – |
| Kale | 20 mg1 | – |
| Cruciferous mix (radish, kale, broccoli) | 10 mg1 | – |
That is 150 mg of magnesium per tablet. The Nutrient Reference Value for magnesium is 375 mg, so 300 mg is 80% of it — the label’s figure and the arithmetic agree.1
The bit most magnesium labels do not make easy
This is the single most useful thing to understand before comparing magnesium products, and it has nothing to do with this brand.
Magnesium is always bonded to something else. Magnesium citrate, magnesium oxide, magnesium bisglycinate — in each case the magnesium is only a fraction of the compound’s weight. So a bottle advertising “1,500 mg magnesium citrate” is not offering 1,500 mg of magnesium; the elemental magnesium might be a sixth of that.1
The figure that matters is elemental magnesium, and the honest signal that you are reading it is a %NRV alongside it. This label states 300 mg at 80% NRV. When you compare, compare that number — not the compound weight on the front of the bottle.1
Three forms rather than one
NeoLife calls this the Tri-Mag Blend. The three magnesium sources on the ingredient list are:
- Magnesium bisglycinate — magnesium chelated to the amino acid glycine.
- Magnesium salts of citric acid — magnesium citrate, an organically bound form.
- Magnesium hydroxide — a high-concentration form.
Different magnesium compounds behave differently in the gut, and there is a genuine, ongoing scientific debate about how much that matters in practice. We are not going to settle it on a product page or claim one form is superior. What we will say plainly is which three are in the tablet, because a lot of labels do not.
The whole-food part
Alongside the magnesium sits what NeoLife calls the PhytoMag Blend: 20 mg beetroot, 20 mg kale, and 10 mg of a radish, kale and broccoli mix. These are small quantities — 20 mg of kale powder is not a serving of kale, and we are not going to imply it is. They are there as whole-food plant material, and the pack front describes the product as “whole food based” on that basis.1
What magnesium is authorised to do
Magnesium is unusual among the supplements we sell: it carries a long list of authorised health claims in Great Britain, and at 80% NRV per serving this product comfortably meets the threshold at which they may be used. Magnesium:1
- contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue
- contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism
- contributes to normal functioning of the nervous system
- contributes to normal muscle function
- contributes to normal psychological function
- contributes to normal protein synthesis
- contributes to electrolyte balance
- contributes to the maintenance of normal bones
- contributes to the maintenance of normal teeth
- has a role in the process of cell division
Those are the permitted wordings, quoted as they must be. Nothing here is intended to diagnose, prevent, treat or cure any condition, and a food supplement is not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet or a healthy lifestyle.
How to take it
One to two tablets a day. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Store somewhere cool and dry, out of reach of children.
The flexible dose is worth noting for cost: at two tablets a day a bottle is 30 days, about 75p a day. At one tablet a day it is 60 days, about 38p a day — though at one tablet you are taking 150 mg, 40% NRV, rather than 300 mg.1
Suitability and allergens
No allergens are declared on the UK ingredient list. NeoLife states the formula is vegetarian and vegan, made entirely without animal-sourced ingredients of any kind. There are no artificial colours, flavours, sweeteners or preservatives.
Magnesium supplements can loosen the bowels in some people, particularly at higher intakes — which is one practical reason the one-to-two tablet range exists. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking prescribed medication or under medical care, speak to your GP or pharmacist before starting any new supplement.

What to compare when buying magnesium
| What to check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Elemental magnesium, not compound weight | The number on the front is often the weight of the whole compound. Look for a magnesium figure with a %NRV next to it.1 |
| %NRV per serving1 | The NRV is 375 mg. This product is 300 mg, 80%. It makes two products directly comparable in a way milligrams of compound do not.1 |
| Serving size in tablets | Per two tablets here. A “per tablet” figure on another label is not the same thing, and it changes cost per day. |
| Which form or forms | Oxide, citrate, bisglycinate and hydroxide are different compounds. A label that does not say is not telling you much. |
| Cost per day at your dose | Divide by servings, not tablets. Here: 75p a day at two tablets, 38p at one. |
| Suitability | Tablets often use animal-derived glazing or flow agents. This one is stated vegan. |
